Your Septic System, Simplified

Each part of your conventional septic system plays an important role in wastewater management. Let’s break it down:

Drain Pipe:

All drains in your house lead to the primary drain pipe. This is where wastewater exits your home and moves into the septic system.

Septic Tank:

Your septic tank collects and filters wastewater, called effluent. The effluent then flows into the drainfield. The solids left in the tank accumulate until they need to be pumped out.

Drainfield/Leach Field:

In the drainfield, the treated wastewater percolates through the soil and back into the environment. Some places in Florida require mound systems to ensure adequate separation from the water table.

Specialty Systems

ACE Septic also works with advanced systems, including:

Aerobic Treatment Units (ATUs):

ATUs introduce oxygen into the treatment process, accelerating the breakdown of waste. This results in cleaner effluent and groundwater. ATU systems require more maintenance but offer effective wastewater treatment in locations where a conventional septic system may not be feasible.

In-Ground Nitrogen-Reducing Biofilters (INRB):

INRBs are wastewater treatment systems that employ natural processes underneath the drainfield and soil layer to reduce nitrogen levels in effluent before it returns to the environment. It utilizes woodchip media to convert and remove nitrogen compounds, helping protect water bodies from nitrogen pollution.
